Over the weekend, Discotek Media announced that they acquired five new titles. The company will add the following to their lineup:
- Demon Lord Dante, August 2016
- True Tears, August 2016
- Black Jack: The Movie, Release Date To Be Announced
- Jungle Emperor Leo (1997 Film), Release Date To Be Announced
- Star Fleet, Late 2016/Early 2017
The company will also release Golgo 13: The Professional on Blu-Ray in August.
Demon Lord Dante is based on Go Nagai’s manga of the same name. The 2002 series was helmed by Mitsutaka Noshitani at Magic Bus, with Toshimitsu Kobayashi (Spice and Wolf II, El Hazard: The Alternative World) providing character designs. Shozo Uehara (Genma Wars) was in charge of series composition. Geneon Entertainment originally released the title in North America.
True Tears is an original series from PA Works. The 2008 series was helmed by Junji Nishimura (Bakuon!!, Ranma 1/2), with Kanami Sekiguchi (Charlotte, Hanasaku Iroha) providing character designs. Mari Okada (Black Butler, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans) was in charge of series composition. Bandai Visual USA originally released the show in North America.
Black Jack: The Movie is based on Osamu Tezuka’s Black Jack manga. The film, which opened in 1996, was directed by Osamu Dezaki (Space Adventure Cobra, Ashita no Joe) at Tezuka Productions and penned by the team of Dezaki and Eto Mori (Colorful). Creator Osamu Tezuka, as well as Akio Sugino (Ashita no Joe, Cat’s Eye
Jungle Emperor Leo is based on Osamu Tezuka’s manga of the same name. The 1997 film was directed and written by Yoshio Takeuchi (Harlock Saga, Oishinbo), while Akio Sugino handled character designs. Media Blasters originally released the film in North America.
